Governor Anusuiya Uikey called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today and apprised the Central leaders of the prevailing situation in Manipur.
According to a statement from Raj Bhavan, the Governor informed the Prime Minister about the series of violent incidents taking place both in hill and valley districts of Manipur since May 3 elaborately.
The Prime Minister was also informed about the various measures taken up by the Centre and the State Government to end the violence, it added.
Furthermore Narendra Modi was apprised of the grievances and suggestions brought by Civil Society Organisations, political representatives, student organisa- tions etc.
from Meitei, Kuki and Naga communities in the State as well in Delhi.
The Governor explained about resettlement and rehabilitation works taken up by the Government.
Anusuiya Uikey also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today and informed the latter that peace and normalcy has been restored to a certain extent after the visit of Amit Shah to Manipur.
Discussions were also held to bring back peace and normalcy in the State, early resettlement and rehabilitation of affected people and to fill up the trust deficit between the parties in conflict.
The Governor also briefed the Union Home Minister about her visit to hill as well as valley districts while Amit Shah assured to extend all possible assistance to restore normalcy in Manipur, as per the statement.
The Governor met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today and informed him about the combing operations carried out by Army along with other State and paramilitary forces at various sensitive locations.
The Governor also informed that she has been holding talks with Army and Assam Rifles officers about the security situation in Manipur.
She apprised the Defence Minister about the multiple medical camps organised by Army/Assam Rifles at various places for the affected people in both hills and valley districts.
