Imphal, July 31 2014:
Showing solidarity to the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur so as to save the dwindling indigenous inhabitants of the state, various civil organizations continued to stage protests at different parts of the State.
As part of the ongoing agitation, sit-in protests were widely held today at Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Khongman Okram Chuthek, Irabat Bhavan in Imphal, Yairipok Khoirom Mayai Leikai, Yairipok New Market, Yairipok Malom and Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai under the aegis of women groups of the areas.
Protests were also observed by students of Antarctic English School Yairipok, Memorial Model Academy, Yairipok High School and Yairipok Junior High school as well as members of All Yairipok Meira Paibis' Association in Imphal East district.

As stated by the protesters, as the demand for implementation of ILP in Manipur spearheaded by the Joint Committee on ILP system would be able to check the continued intrusion of outsiders into the state, it is not imperative for the state government to remain adamant towards the ongoing movement for saving the indigenous peoples. Strongly denouncing the harassment and arrests of protesters by state police, the participants of the sit-in protest also asked why the so called guardians of the state do not like to save the indigenous people of the state.
Chief Minister's statement that the demand would be pursued to the centre even after the assembly had taken resolutions two times is just a gimmick to quell the ongoing movement, they alleged, while reminding the 60 MLAs that the uninterrupted immigration of outsiders would lead to elimination of indigenous people of Manipur.
Protesters also expressed apprehension that the outsiders would become the owners of the state, unless the ILP system is not put into practice.
Meanwhile, several organizations assured support to the ongoing movement of the students and Joint action committee on ILP system in Manipur.
