Imphal, April 19 2010:
The nine-day old economic blockade called by All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has made a deep dent on the supply of petroleum products in Manipur, forcing most of the oil pumps in Manipur to close down.
In an initiative to alleviate the people's hardships, the Indian Oil Corporation has made arrangements to issue fuel to five oil pumps tomorrow.
They arePG Petroleum, Chingmeirong, K Nillo, Langjing, Porompat Service Station, Bitesh Gasoline, Bishnupur and PC&TC, North AOC.
Sources said, only Extra Premium petrol will be issued at PG Petroleum.
Petrol and diesel will be issued at Porompat Gas Service Station and PC&TC, North AOC.
The sources said that this arrangement has been necessitated so that the stock at the depot of Indian Oil Corporation, Chingmeirong would last as long as possible.
However, some other sources said that there is enough stock of petrol and diesel at the oil depot.
It is worth noting here that the government authority has not yet issued any notice/order rationing petrol and diesel.
