Imphal, February 05 2024:
Under graduate and post graduate students of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) stormed the Administrative Block of the University urging authorities to reconduct examinations for conflict affected students, provide equal online facilities to all students and to declare the pending semester examination results.
According to the students, only Kuki students of the University are provided the facility of appearing their examinations in online mode, among other benefits.
The students staged the protest demonstration at noon today claiming that the Vice Chancellor, Controller of Examinations and Registrar of DMU have ignored their grievances.

Following this, the students made their way to the Education (U) Commissioner's office at Babupara.
However, they were intercepted by the police at MG Avenue.
Fifteen students were selected from the crowd and allowed to meet the Education (U) Commissioner today.
Speaking in this connection, a student shared that the UG and PG students had previously submitted their demands to DMU authority seeking redressal.
Aside from Kukis, students from many other communities are bearing the brunt of this ongoing conflict.
Many Meitei students of DMU from conflict ravaged areas have missed their semester examinations or failed to fill up their examination forms, he said.
Under such circumstances, the UG and PG students of DMU cannot accept the measures taken up by the University to provide amenities for online classes, online assignments etc for only Kuki students, he remarked.
Stating that such facilities should be provided to all students equally, he further urged the DMU authority to reduce the examination form fill up fees in view of the conflict, declare the results of the semester examinations at the earliest and appoint a representative for DMU Students' Union.
According to a later report, the fifteen student representatives submitted a memorandum listing their demands to the Education (U) Commissioner during their meeting.
They also urged the official to consider their demands in consultation with the DMU authority.
