AR, Gujarat varsity sign deal on academic collaboration

In a significant step towards fostering academic collaboration and promoting excellence in training, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally inked between Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Assam Rifles at the Rashtriya Raksha University campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Monday.
The MoU signing ceremony saw the participation of Dr Bimal N Patel, vice-chancellor of RRU, and Lt Gen PC Nair, Director General of Assam Rifles, who signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions, according to a statement issued by PRO, IGAR (S).
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen PC Nair highlighted the potential synergy between the practical experience of Assam Rifles and the academic rigour of RRU.
He expressed optimism about creating a holistic learning environment that nurtures both character and competence.
Lt Gen Nair acknowledged Assam Rifles' remarkable milestones in training and emphasised the crucial role of education in preparing the force for evolving security challenges.
Dr Bimal Patel expressed the university's eagerness to learn from Assam Rifles' extensive operational experiences and people-centric developmental programmes in the North East.
These experiences will be converted into case studies, enriching the curriculum of multiple faculties at RRU, he said.
The collaboration aims to establish a lasting relationship that will shape the future of Assam Rifles and add value to RRU.
The MoU will accredit the academic and training programmes of Assam Rifles, providing certification for various courses.
It will facilitate studies, dissertations, and doctoral research in line with university guidelines, promoting joint research initiatives, faculty exchange, and collaborative projects beneficial to both entities.
This collaboration aligns with Assam Rifles' broader strategy to create a comprehensive academic curriculum.
The paramilitary force has previously signed MoUs with Manipur University, Mizoram University, and United Service Institution, Delhi, reflecting a commitment to joint research and specialised courses tailored to the unique needs of Assam Rifles.
Rashtriya Raksha University, an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, stands as a pioneer National Security & Police University in India.
Assam Rifles, a Central Paramilitary Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, holds responsibilities for border security along the Indo-Myanmar border and counterinsurgency operations, the statement added.
