Imphal, June 25 2023: To help the people who have been displaced by the present unrest in the State, All Manipur Medicos' Union (AMMU), JNIMS, organised a 1-day free medical camp & medicine distribution today at the shelter camp opened in Urup Higher Secondary School.

In a release, AMMU informed that a team of 25 doctors from different specialities like Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Obs & Gynae and Ophthalmology provided medical care to about 200 persons.

Facilities for emergency laboratory tests and free medicines were also provided to the people staying at the shelter camp.

The medical camp was supported by the Co-ordinating Committee of Clubs & Organisations, Association of Meiteis in the America, All Assam Manipuri Doctor Association and senior Meitei doctors.

"AMMU consisting of various Meitei doctors and supporting nurses and volunteers will continue to conduct such camps in various affected parts of Manipur", it added.

Youth of 20 Members also conducted a voluntary blood donation camp at RIMS Blood Bank, Lamphel today under the theme, "Stop War, Save Lives" .

A total of 20 individuals donated blood in the camp.

Speaking to media persons, a member of Youth of 20 Members called the demand for separate administration as absurd and urged all to refrain from making demands that threaten the integrity of the State.

He also appealed to the Central and State Government to make a concerted effort to restore peace & harmony in Manipur.

According to the Department of Transfusion Medicine, blood donated by a single person will help save the lives of three.

A person who is above 18 years and below 65 years can donate blood four times a year.

Blood donation also controls BP, diabetes type 2 and cholesterol.

In continuation of the humanitarian aid extended to the people affected by the ongoing crisis, Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai Meira Paibi Welfare Association today distributed relief materials at three different places namely Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district, Khumbong and Kanto Khullen in Imphal West district.

Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai Meira Paibi Welfare Association shared that thousands of people have been suffering for about two months due to the failure of the Central and State Government to take any concrete action to bring an end to the violence and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.

The association also asserted that the Central Security Forces deployed in the State have done nothing to deter the Kuki militant groups under SoO from attacking innocent civilians and burning down Meitei villages.

The association further appealed to the Central & State Government to abrogate the SoO pact with Kuki militants and implement NRC to bring long lasting peace in Manipur.
