16 bunkers dismantled in last 24 hours : PCR

At least 16 bunkers were destroyed by Central and State security forces in the vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts and recovered two arms in the last 24 hours, said the Police Control Room (PCR) today.
In its latest bulletin, the Control Room continued that intermittent firing by armed miscreants were reported at few places in the same period but they (the miscreants) were repelled by the Central and State security forces.
Saying that two persons sustained pellet injuries in double barrel firing by one individual at Khoyathong Polem Leikai yesterday, the PCR conveyed that the accused has been arrested today from Yairipok Malom in Thoubal district.
Today, three empty trucks were intercepted by a mob from inter-village road near Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant and set the trucks on fire at Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai ground, the Control Room said and added that the security forces dispersed the mob.
Raids were conducted at many places and detained some persons for verification, it added.
Continuing that altogether 126 checkpoints have been installed in different districts of Manipur, the PCR maintained that police detained 628 persons for violating curfew from different districts.
Movement of essential items is ensured along National Highways-37 and 2, the Control Room said and added that strict security measures have also been taken up in vulnerable areas to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
