Imphal, July 15 2023:
Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit has asserted that the Central Government should honour the decision of Manipur Government to withdraw the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with Kuki militant groups.
Addressing a press conference today at Shiv Sena office in Babupara, M Tombi, president of Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit, shared that the Government of Manipur decided to withdraw from the SoO pact as the Kuki militant groups were consistently breaking the ground rules of the pact and were involved in various illicit activities.
He continued that the Government of India should follow suit and take immediate steps to abrogate the SoO pact to protect innocent Indian citizens from the atrocities of armed Kuki militants.

He mentioned that the Central Government should stop turning a blind eye to all the crimes committed by Kuki militant groups under SoO pact and take strong action against them as per the law.
The State Unit president also conveyed that there is no end to the violence in Manipur despite the deployment of over 50,000 Central Security Forces and innocent civilians have become fish in a pond with many being killed almost daily by armed Kuki militants.
He then questioned the failure of the Central Government to restore law & order in Manipur which is just the size of a district of a big State like Maharashtra.
"Despite the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey's revelation that external forces including from Myanmar are involved in the ongoing violence in Manipur, the Government of India has not taken any concrete step to fight the external forces and the Prime Minister has also not said a single word about the present issue so far", said Tombi while adding that the people of Manipur do not want the Rs 10 Lakh compensation, they want an end to the violence and restoration of peace in the State.
In regard to the group of 31 MLAs submitting memorandum to the Central Government demanding withdrawal of SoO, he asked why only 31 MLAs decided to pressure the Central Government on the present issue and added that the remaining MLAs should clarify to the public about their absence.
Stating that it is not the time to play games to gain political mileage, Tombi further urged all to come together irrespective of political ideologies to protect Manipur and bring peace.
