FIR registered against singer 'Tapta'

Churachandpur police station has reportedly registered an FIR against popular Manipuri singer Jayenta Loukrakpam alias Tapta.
According to source, based on a complait lodged by Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF) president Nengzalian Tonsing, the police station registered the case on July 13 under IPC sections 153A/ 153B/ 500/ 505 (2) and section 3(l) U of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.
The FIR has been filed after Tapta's "controversial song" triggered a major row amid the unrest situation in the state.
According to ZSF, the song's lyrics called for the massacre of the Kukis and accused the singer of promoting enmity between different groups based on religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, and more.
The complaint claimed that Tapta's actions are prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony, and that his songs are defamatory and promote feelings of enmity, hatred, or ill-will against members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Tapta earned popularity in Manipur with his powerful debut album titled Power of Attraction1.Over the years, he has garnered a substantial following across all communities in the state, earning him a dedicated fan base.
