Govt committed to assist displaced people: Biswajlt

Agriculture minister Thongam Biswajit said that the government is providing assistance to the displaced people living in Ideal Girls' College, Akampat by engaging them in income generating activities with the hope of giving them some relief financially as well as mentally.
Speaking at an interaction programme with the displaced people along with officials of department of science and technology and Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) on Friday, Biswajit pointed out that the relief camp has been running for 67 days with the volunteers extending all necessary help to the displaced people.
While explaining that the interaction programme was organised to hear grievances of the violence-affected denizens as it is obvious that there will be always dissatisfaction among the inmates, he said that different training programmes are being conducted by the government to enable the camp residents venture into income generating activities.
The government is also facilitating market linkage, the minister said and added that those, who have received training in the camp can take up these works after they get resettled.
On the other hand, he said, the government is also taking up initiatives to ensure delivery of benefits of various services and schemes including PDS rice and LPG cylinders.
Steps have also being taken to regenerate lost Aadhaar cards, health cards and other documents, he said.
The minister also donated Rs 20,000 cash to Khumanthern Angelica, daughter of Kh Kamala of Moreh Ward No 9, who have cleared NEET, as an assistance in her medical course.
