Imphal, June 01 2012:
For the first time in the history of Manipur, people would be experiencing night life with fuels stations remaining open round the clock to supply petrol and diesel through JAS Gas, Uripok and Porompat Service Station, though on an experimental basis for one month, starting from today.
The supplying of petrol and diesels round the clock was formally launched by Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Moirangthem Okendro at JAS Gas, Uripok today.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Okendro stated that initiative taken up by the state government is to bring about a change in Manipur.
With the supply of fuel 24 hours, the problems faced by the people due to the hoarding of fuel by black marketeers and at times causing fire, thereby killing people and destroying properties, will be reduced drastically.
The Minister also stated that the people selling fuel along the road sides cannot be seen as selling petrol but as betrayal to the people of the state.
To delegates and other visitors coming from outside, such acts convey the feeling that Manipur is a state without any government to look after all the unwanted happenings.
So, the Department has taken up the step to get rid of black marketeers in the state.
