Kom body belittles Kom village chiefs' allegations

Imphal, October 17 2023: While rejecting the allegations levelled against it by Joint Kom Villages Chiefs & Authorities (JKVCA), Kom Naga Union Manipur (KONUM) termed as astonishing that there is an association called JKVCA in Kangpokpi district.

In a release, KONUM publicity secretary L Angkhup Kom stated that no one knew about JKVCA when members of the union investigated.

Moreover, when leaders of villages concerned were queried about the meeting claimed to have been convened by JKVCA at Ikouphai village on October 10, most of them responded in the negative and that they were not communicated, he added.

Pointing out that no one should obstruct as and when indigenous tribes like Koireng, Purum, Kom, Aimol, Chiru and Kharam decide and chose to amalgamate with larger apex body according to their wishes, he urged the Kom people to support Kom villages which got affiliated to United Naga Council.

He further appealed to all to live harmoniously and doing away with crab mentality.
