SMAT: Johnson's 50 goes in vain as Manipur go down by six wickets to Goa

Ngariyanbam Johnson scored a 45-ball fifty but his effort went in vain as Manipur succumbed to a 6-wicket loss in the second Group C encounter of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 at JCSA Oval Ground in Ranchi.
Put in to bat first, Manipur racked up a small but significant total of 122 runs for 9 in allotted 20 overs thanks to Ngariyanbam Johnson who smashed four fours on the way to his 45-ball 50 and Nitesh Sedai's 10-ball 22 .
Arjun Tendulkar (2/27), son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Shubaham Tari (2/14) led the Goa bowling attack as Darshan Misal, Lakshay Garg, Vikas Singh and Mohit Redkar shared a wicket apiece in Manipur's innings.
In reply, Ishaan Gadekar (34), KV Siddhanth (39) and Suyash Prabhudessai (25 not out) steered Goa to a comfortable win in 16.2 overs with 6 wickets left to spare.
Manipur's Bishworjit Konthoujam, L Kishan Singha and Nitesh Sedai were able to claim a wicket apiece in this innings.
Manipur will play Saurashtra in the next match on October 19 at the same venue.
