Imphal, October 17 2023:
A joint meeting of senior officials of security agencies and Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal held on Tuesday, has failed to reach consensus regarding deployment of state security forces in Moreh.
As a result, reinforcement CDO team sent to Moreh, who have been staying at KLP checkpost of Assam Rifles, are yet to reach Moreh town.
The meeting took place at the IB post of 5 Assam Rifles from 11 am till 2 pm.
DIG of 26 Sector Brigadier Ved Pal Yadav, 5 AR Moreh CO Rahul Jain, Tengnoupal SP Lanmi-yo Luikham, 5th IRB CO H Balaram, ASP (Ops) Chamna Anal, 122 Bn BSF deputy CO JS Rathore, 99 RAF deputy CO Srikant and Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal president Khaijamang Guite along with other members attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Kuki Inpi members raised strong objection on bringing in additional state security forces in Moreh town, demanded the district police authorities to prohibit CDOs from patrolling in the border town and confine in the Commando Complex.
As the district police team refused to accept the demand, the meeting ended without any consensus.
As a result, the additional CDO team are still left stranded at the KLP post of Assam Rifles near Kondong Lairembi.
Mention may be made that Kuki women brought out small kids including toddlers and continue to block the highway near Chikim village located nearby the AR post.
Due to the presence of small kids among the protestors, security forces are unable to clear the highway to provide free passage to the additional CDO team.
Earlier, district administration imposed full curfew a few days back as Kuki residents of Moreh town attempted to clean and occupy a market used by Meeteis.
