Senapati, November 04 2026:
The Mao Council in a statement has expressed anguish over the allegations levelled by the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) against Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and termed the demand for his removal from the esteemed post as unwarranted and unjustified.
The council asserted that the Deputy CM Dikho had no involvement in the alleged cold-blooded murder of the two Kuki youths.
It questioned the basis of the allegations, stating that it was unfair to accuse a peace loving leader across communities and tribes without any credible evidence.
The Council strongly condemned the 'defamatory allegations' against the Deputy Chief Minister and said that such baseless accusations could further aggravate tensions and undermine efforts towards peaceful coexistence among communities.
The Council also expressed its solidarity with Losii Dikho amid this trying times and urged all concerned to allow the truth to emerge and ensure that justice prevails.
Meanwhile, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) considered CoTU's demand for removal of Losii Dikho from the post of Deputy Chief Minister as a blatant attempt to divert the attention from the public demand for the removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and to shield her from the serious allegations raised against her and her family.
In a press release, the NPO considered the statement made by CoTU as unfortunate that a leader who has consistently demonstrated his commitment to peace and reconciliation is now being targeted with allegations, seemingly to divert attention from the serious allegations against Nemcha Kipgen.
