DG AR, others meet Governor

Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today and briefed the latter about the prevailing security situation in the State.
As per a press release from Raj Bhavan, the DG apprised about the security measures which are being taken up by the Assam Rifles in the State.
He said, "The situation in the State is improving as security forces are maintaining strict vigil to counter any eventuality" .
The DG also informed the Governor about the deployment of Assam Rifles in the State.

N Bandana Devi, State Mission Director, Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) along with three officials also called on the Governor and apprised of the conditions of women in the relief camps.
She informed the Governor that around 3,500 members of Women Self Help Groups have been affected by the conflict that broke out on May 3 and they have been staying in various relief camps in different districts.
"MSRLM, with a mission to extend support to the livelihood of the people, conducted training programmes at the relief camps and around 2000 persons have been trained with different manufacturing skills.
Various training programmes have been conducted for IDPs according to their capacities.
One day's salary has also been donated to supply infant foods to the relief camps.
A mela will be organised to sell the products manufactured in relief camps", she added.
The team also submitted a list of proposals to the Governor.
The Governor appreciated the efforts made by MSRLM and added that all possible efforts should be made to extend support to the IDPs in the camps.
The Governor said that she had visited many relief camps both in the hills & valley and interacted with IDPs especially women to understand their grievances.
"With the support of agencies like the Indian Red Cross Society, relief materials like hygiene kit, kitchen set, mosquito net, blanket, etc have been distributed to IDPs.
Now the focus should be on the means of livelihood for the IDPs", the Governor added.
