Waree Leeba Festival kicks off

The "5 Days Waree Leeba Festival" jointly organised by Kangla Acupressure Alternative Therapy Treatment Research & Training Centre, Langjing Achouba and Repertory of Waree Leeba, Manipur, was kicked off yesterday at the Old Age Home located in Langjing Achouba.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Leimarol Khorjeikol Leikol president, Kshetrimayum Subadani; RK Maipaksana, chief advisor, Old Age Home Langjing Achouba; Thoudam Thamcha Devi, Member, Langjing Achouba Awang Leikai Ward No 1; Laikhuram Mani Singh, State Kala Akademi Awardee and vice president, Repertory of Waree Leeba; Dr TM Rajen Ayangba, international awardee and Konthoujam Anandabi, national awardee as presidium members, said a release issued by the Old Age Home, Langjing Achouba.
Takhellambam Shyamkanhai, recipient of the prestigious Yuva Puraskar Award conferred by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi delivered the keynote address.
Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Naorem, advisor, Old Age Home Langjing Achouba shared that the Old Age Home was officially established on November 2 of 2011 while the building was properly constructed in 2019 funded by the MP Local Area Local Development Fund of former MP Dr Thokchom Meinya Singh.
Kshetrimayum Subadani said that the ongoing violence has been caused by past mistakes and thus stressed on the importance of exercising caution in the present.
She also urged the senior citizens not to be discouraged.
The gathering also observed a 2-minute silence to pay respects to the martyrs who laid down their lives during the ongoing conflict.
