Bishnupur, October 08 2023: With the goal of safeguarding the areas under Moirang Assembly Constituency from any attacks, the Village Volunteer Force (VVF), Moirang was constituted today in a ceremony held at Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol, Moirang.

The constitution cum passing out ceremony of VVF Moirang was attended by Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti; Salam Ibochouba, Ingu Khadrakpa of Ibudhou Thangjing Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang and Kumam Achouba, president of the Thangjing Seva Mandal as presidium members.

The members of VVF Moirang took out a rally from their office at Moirang Chengei Water Supply campus till Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol while a veteran 'maiba' of Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol offered ritualistic prayers to bless the force.

The force numbering more than 200 members consisting of both men and women then vowed to protect the integrity of Manipur and help to mitigate the suffering of the people.

Following this, meira paibis of Moirang AC blessed the members of the force while also offering them encouragement.

Speaking in this connection, MLA Thongam Shanti lauded the formation of VVF Moirang while terming it as a welcome move.

He urged people to work in unison to help preserve the integrity of Manipur.

Notably, he called upon VVF Moirang to also offer their help in times of natural disasters aside from protecting Moirang AC.

The MLA also called for expansion of the force with the induction of more members in a second batch.
