Kits for testing Japanese Encephalitis have finally arrived after the mosquito borne dreaded disease had already claimed many lives in the state.
The testing of blood samples will start from tomorrow at the JNIMS hospital.
The kits will be installed at JNIMS Hospital, Porompat and will start testing from tomorrow, an official source said today.
The same kits are likely to reach the RIMS hospital also in the next few days.
Source from the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur said that the kits for testing Japanese Encephalitis were procured from Pune and reached Guwahati yesterday.
The kits have arrived in Imphal now.
Only two kits against the demand for four arrived.
The authority in Pune assured of sending more kits according to requirement, the official source said.
The authority will start testing blood samples for the disease from tomorrow onwards.
They are also targeting at conducting test of 90 blood samples in a day.
The officials appealed to the people to avail themselves of the facility.
The department also sought cooperation of the people in the drive to eliminate mosquitoes as part of prevention of spreading of the disease reiterating that fogging and spraying of anti-mosquito chemical are undergoing in large scale.
