Imphal, July 18 2010:
Distribution of awards to the meritorious students of this year High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) were held widespread in the state today.
A total of 113 students who passed HSLC and HSSLC exam this year were awarded in the fifth Late Koijam Yaima Singh Memorial Meritorious Award 2010.The award is donated by deputy chairman of the state planning board, MLA Bijoy Koijam in the name of his late father.
Mother of the MLA, Koijam ongbi Agani attended as chief guest in the function presided over by the president of the organising club Thongju Chingonglei Makhong Development Club, S Gopal.

Association for the Promotion of Meritorious Students of Chingmeirong (APMSC) also conferred its 19th meritorious award to 30 students in a function held at Sinam Shyama Devi town Hall, Chingmeirong today.
Former president of APMSC and now advisor, Dr Priyokumar and advisor W Modhu were chief guest and president of the function respectively.
In a function held at Heirok of Thoubal district organised by Social Cultural, Education and Sport Development organisation, students who secured high marks in the Class-X, XII conducted by BOSEM, COHEM and CBSE hailing from the area were encouraged with awards and gifts.
MLA, M Oken who graced the function as chief guest said exhorted on the need of encouraging students for improving the quality education in the state.
He also called for a concerted effort to every individuals of the society in bringing quality in the state.
Meanwhile, meritorious awards to 185 students were also awarded today in a function held at Lilong Tairen Makhong Primary Health Centre.
The award was donated by social worker Md Abdul Nasir.
The award distribution function was graced by MLA M Prithivraj as chief guest, Md Manwar Ali as president.
Pradhan of the Athokpam GP, Ali and other attended the function as chief guest.
