In a move to inculcate and instill in younger minds as pride partners for collective efforts at stimulating and generating environmental awareness towards arresting the issue of climate change and global warming, a tree plantation initiative is all set to take place at Senapati district headquarter on July 20 .
The initiative is to taken up as a first phase 'Go-Green Drive' campaign along the road side and educational institution campuses under the aegis of Maram Students' Union(MSU) .
Feeling that Climate Change and Global Warming being one of the greatest challenges of the human kind for a sustainable and dignified existence, it says MSU took up the 'Go-Green Drive' as they're committed to act locally as they kept thinking disappearance of environment globally.
MSU is compelled to act locally by initiating regeneration process to increase our green cover as we are increasingly risking the loss of the very foundation of our own survival in this era of rising temperature, unpredictable monsoon, shortage of water and subsequent impact on the agricultural activities.
After all the forthcoming tree plantation program will be one of MSU's series of activities as part of their year-long Golden Jubilee celebration after the recently concluded football trophy,traditional mangkhang festival at Maram Khullen village,community fishing at Willong village etc.
Brigadier Anil Chauhan of 59 Mountain Brigade is also expected to share his feeling while arresting the impact of global warming during the day-long tree plantation towards climate change.
"The land does not belongs to you", MSU,in one of their message release on the occasion of forthcoming tree plantation,said, "You belong to the land".
The actions we take today will affect how our children live tomorrow.
