Cabinet meeting in Ukhrul district today

The state cabinet is all set to hold meeting at Ukhrul district headquarters on Wednesday for which Ukhrul district administration has taken up necessary arrangements.
Ever since the coming of BJP government, series of state cabinet meets were held at headquarters of hill districts and outlaying districts in the valley with the main objective of bringing equal development in both hills and valley.
Though state cabinet meet in the hills could not continue due to the clash between the Meetei and Kuki communities since May 3, the government has taken a firm decision to conduct the state cabinet meet at Ukhrul district headquarters on Wednesday.
Accordingly, Ukhrul district administration has taken up necessary arrangements for successful conduct of the meet at Mini secretariat.
Meanwhile, a reliable source informed that chief minister N Biren Singh will visit Ukhrul in a helicopter while ministers and ruling MLAs will be using land route to reach Ukhrul district headquarters.
It is also not known whether two Kuki ministers namely Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip, who skipped cabinet meets at CM secretariat in Imphal due to the ongoing violence since May 3, will take part in Wednesday's cabinet meet or not.
Apart from chairing the cabinet meet, chief minister N Biren will also attend a public function wherein he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects.
The chief minister will inaugurate 21 projects worth Rs 23.93 crore and lay foundation stones for 24 projects worth Rs 41.61 crore during the function.
Among the projects to be inaugurated include working women hostel at Ukhrul district headquarters, girl's hostel at Paoyee, PHSC buildings for Tusom, Ngainga, Ringui and Pushing villages, primary school building at Sirarakhong village, Ngachonmi primary school building at Ukhrul, Ringui Aya-tong primary school building, Ringui Ramhon primary school building and Paorei primary school building.
Other projects to be inaugurated include Shirui guest house, barrack-type quarters for PHC Lambui, augmentation of water supply at Yaolen, Paoyee Ajingtang, Chingjaroi CV, Leiyaram, Tora Khunou and Langreiphung villages and Open gym at Ukhrul district headquarters.
The chief minister will also lay foundation stones for 24 projects to be taken up in different area of Ukhrul district.
The projects include construction of bailey bridge over Challo river at Poi village, construction of the road from NH-2'02 to Hallang, improvement of New Tusom-Tusom CV circular road, construction of PHSC Phungcham building, construction of different quarters for Ukhrul PS, Chingai PS, Jesami PS, Shangshak PS, Phungyar PS, Somdal PS and Litan PS.
Foundation stones will also be laid for other projects like government children home and cultural centre cum multipurpose building at Ukhrul district headquarter and works for advancement of integrated farming at Huisu village.
