Imphal, October 08 2023:
Reacting against the statement by Lukmai Sellup over the killing of two students by armed Kuki militants, Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has dubbed the statement as false and clarified that the commission had registered a case in connection with the murder of the two students on July 27 .
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, MSCW chairperson Salam Ulka said that contrary to the statement made by Lukmai Sellup on July 7 that MSCW had not taken up any case related with the killing of the two students, the commission had registered a case on July 27 and even visited the home of Linthoingambi Hijam and conducted spot enquiry and also asked for a status report from the DGP.
The Manipur police department had replied that since the case was a sensitive one, process has been made to transfer the case to the CBI for further investigation.
Following the reply, MSCW wrote a letter to the DGP urging for arrest of the culprits at the earliest possible, Salam Ulka said.
The MSCW chairperson said that even though the case been taken over by the CBI, the commission is collecting relevant data to submit a report.
The commission does not remain idle in connection with such cases of crimes against women under any circumstances and has been contributing towards delivering justice to all irrespective of caste, religion, and class, sheaf-firmed.
