Imphal, September 19 2023:
Restricting indigenous Meeteis to settle in only 8 percent of the total geographical area of Manipur under the MLR & LR Act, 1960 is violation of the Right to Life of the community, stated RPI Athawale national general secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam.
Maheshwar along with youth of Uttar Pradesh (UP) supporting Meetei community showcased to UP public several videos of armed Kuki militants mingling among the civilian participants of the Tribal Solidarity Rally held in Churachandpur on May 3, torturing and killing of Meeteis by Kukis and torching and destroying of Meetei houses by the Kukis.
Addressing media persons after showcasing the videos at UP capital's Lucknow, Maheshwar said that Kuki militants violated the SoO ground rules and intentionally attacked the Meeteis but no action could be taken up against them and this indeed is very unfortunate.
He said that Meetei community wants to live peacefully with other communities and accordingly all the indigenous communities of Manipur have been living together in peace and harmony for centuries under the reign of successive Meetei kings.
According to Maheshwar, Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists have long been preparing for a war against the Meeteis and they did it with those coming from foreign countries from May 3.The war being waged by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists is not only threat to Manipur but also to the national security, he said and appealed to people of UP to help in uprooting Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists from the soil of the country.
Social activist of UP Dhavnesh Dixit, who also attended the press conference, called upon people of UP to support the Meetei community and stop the terror acts of Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
