ENNG merges with NSCN-IM
Source: The Sangai Express / Ukhrul Times

Ukhrul, January 28 2024: In a major development and a boost to the Naga National movement, the entire body of the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) merged with NSCN-IM along with arms on Saturday.

Declaring their support to the leadership of National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim and the Framework Agreement, and also to strengthen the ongoing Indo-Naga political talk and for the greater interest of the Nagas, wherever they are, the ENNG has merged with the NSCN/GPRN.

The ENNG was formed in January 2016 to strengthen the "Naga Army" in eastern Nagaland.

The aim of the organisation was to fight for the demands of Myanmar Eastern Nagas and the Nagas of Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts in Arunachal Pradesh.

On January 21, 2024, president of ENNG, Tosham Mossang and General Secretary Sompai Pongha had written to the Longvibu of Naga Army GHQ requesting for merger of the organisation -the Eastern Naga National Government to the NSCN/GPRN.

"Accordingly, they were accorded a warm welcome on 27 January 2024" stated an officer of Naga Army.

Ukhrul Times has learnt that around 30 cadres of ENNG along with arms were present on the historic day.

"On behalf of the Eastern Naga National Government, we would like to state that keeping our good faith upon the Naga NSCN/GPRN and its leadership, with this representation declared our decision and our commitment to merge the entire body of ENNG with the NSCN/GPRN.

That, with this decision to join the NSCN/GPRN we also declared our sincere support for the Framework Agreement of 3rd August 2015 signed on the basis of Nagalim Sovereignty and under the leadership of His Excellency Yaruiwo, Late Isak Chisi Swu and Honourable Ato Kilonser, Th Muivah.

Since the two major NSCN factions entered into our Tirap Changlang Longding (TCL) areas by NSCN (K) in 1988 and the NSCN (IM) in 2002 following the fractional clashes in between the groups, which has brought major breakthrough and alarming of Naga National political movement in the mindset of the people, since then, the people of TCL have been left in confusion and unorganised so far.

However, we are taking this sincere and bold decision to merge into your Government in order to strengthen the Indo-Naga political talk and the Framework Agreement of the 3rd August 2015, we also believe that it will also positively motivate the people of TCL and allow this event would be a historic development for the rest of Naga Nation.

With this decision to join the NSCN/GPRN we also wish to mention that we are determine to strengthen the present political situation of the Pangmi region politically in TCL, which are extremely fragile because of the various divisive factors.

And moreover, for any delay or negligence on our part would amount to the highest failure to our nation.

Therefore, we the undersigned on behalf of ENGG look forward to the bright future of the Nagas in TCL and our positive support to the NSCN/GPRN in all these Naga areas.

We also deeply appreciate the Naga National interest and the concern and love of the NSCN/GPRN for the Naga people in these areas of TCL, though we are divided by the artificial boundaries.

Therefore, integration of all Naga areas and Nagas, wherever we are, must be one of our topmost priorities.

We declared our support for the Indo-Naga political talks and the historic Framework Agreement of 3rd August 2015 signed between the NSCN/GPRN and the Government of India on the foundation of sovereignty and deeply appreciating the position of NSCN/GPRN on the non-negotiable Nagalim National Flag and Constitution, we boldly look forward to offer us our genuine and effective assignment for the service of the Naga Nation.

We also wish to highlight and deeply appreciate the role of the Longvibu, the Naga Army for taking sincere efforts for making this unity possible.

Lastly, we would like to appeal to your esteemed authority and the NSCN/GPRN to response your trust on us with important political responsibility to work effectively for the Nagas and the Naga areas in TCL" stated the representation jointly signed by President and General Secretary of ENNG" .
