Veinii Suffix from Purul wins bronze at GAMMA World C'ship

Veinii Suffix Th Vainah, 22, s/o S Thole from Purul village, who belongs to Poumai Naga community won bronze medal at the recently concluded Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA), World Championship, 2022 at Amsterdam.
On his return from Amsterdam, the bronze medallist was accorded a warm reception at Imphal Airport by the Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) along with its federating units and subordinates including the Purul Youth & Students Organization (PYSO).
Mention may be made that Veinii Suffix had also won different medals in the past including bronze medal in Judo (state level) in 2010, bronze medal in Wushu (state level) in 2013 and represented Manipur University at All India University Championship held at Haryana in 2017, bronze medal in boxing (state level) in 2018 and gold medal in kickboxing at Bidang Club War, Guwahati in 2019 .
The local fighter had recorded 15 fights at GAMMA World Championship, 2022 with 13 wins and 2 losses in straw weight category.
Veinii Suffix reportedly beat Robin Chautard of France in his first bout at the GAMMA World Championship, 2022.However, he suffered a close defeat against Oryntayev Yermakhan of Kazakhstan, who was crowned the gold medallist.
24 countries reportedly took part at the GAMMA World Championship, 2022 which was the biggest world event for amateur MMA.
According to a source from PNTM, it is reported that an official, felicitation programme will be organised very soon where all the excellent sportspersons of Poumai Naga will be acknowledged, said the source.
