MAHUD Minister launches cleanliness drive at town

MAHUD and Education Minister Y Khemchand today launched a cleanliness drive at Imphal city under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Swachh Survekshan initiative.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the clean- liness drive, Khemchand highlighted the cleanliness drive taken up across Imphal city.
He aso spoke about lack of coordination among IMC, Town Planning and PWD.
He stated that the cleanliness drive was carried out with the aim of actualising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Smart City vision for the State.
The MAHUD Minister also made an appeal to the shop owners across the city to stop dumping their garbage on and around the road at the end of the day.
Instead, he advised them to collect the day's trash in a bag and dispose of it in front of their shops.
This will prove to be convenient for Municipality workers to pick up the garbage, he added.
It would also ensure cleanliness of the surrounding area.
He also appealed to the people to take personal responsibility in ensuring the cleanliness of Imphal city, stating that this endeavour cannot be accomplished by the Government or the IMC alone.
Khemchand who is also the Education Minister extended his best wishes to the students who will be appearing in the Class X and XII examinations slated to commence from April 5 and 7 respectively.
Y Khemchand stated that the education sector was hugely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic during the last two years.
As such, students all over the country were promoted as per the country's policy.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the students, parents and teachers for agreeing with the Government's decision when the schedules for the aforementioned exams were first announced.
Y Khemchand urged the students set to appear in the exams to go through this undertaking in a calm manner and wished them success.
He also assured them that no questions outside of the set syllabus will be asked in the examinations.
