Imphal, April 04 2022:
MAHUD minister Y Khemchand on Monday carried out inspection of the seven-day cleanliness drive which is being conducted by Imphal Municipal Corporation in Imphal city area along with MAHUD officials including commissioner and director on Monday.
After inspecting the cleanliness drive at Thangal bazar area, Y Khemchand told media persons that the ongoing drive seems to lack coordination among relevant departments like municipality, town planning and PWD.
He, however, assured of streamlining soon so that all relevant departments work together to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's smart city dream.
In his reply to a query raised by media persons about the problem of dumping site for garbage, the MAHUD minister said that owners of shops in Thangal bazar left wastes on roadside but it would be easier for IMC workers to collect such wastes if the shopkeepers put them into plastic bag before downing the shutters.
He also conceded that the government alone cannot keep the city clean without people's support and help.
