Imphal, April 29 2022:
Manipur suffered a disappointing semi-final exit in the 75th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy going down by 0-3 goals to West Bengal at Manjeri Payyanad Football Stadium in Kerala today.
The eventful semi-final game started with a bang as Sujit Singh rifled in from outside the area to hand West Bengal the lead early in the second minute.
To much disappointment, West Bengal doubled their lead within five minutes with Md Fardin Ali Molla capitalising on a loose ball before stunning the Manipur custodian with a powerful shot from inside the box.
Manipur had plenty off chances in the remainder of the half and dominated most of the second half before Dilip Orawn's looping cross sneaked into the far top corner in the 74th minute to disappoint Manipur custodian Md Abujar who substituted A Chingkhei who conceded two goals in the early stage of the game.
Despite attempts, Manipur drew blank as West Bengal custodian and defense put up a good show.
West Bengal will now face Kerala in the ultimate
clash on May 2 .
