Awareness programme organised

Imphal, April 29 2022:
An awareness programme was jointly organised by Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) and The Thoubal District United Women's Development Organization (Thoubal Ima) at Kiyam Wangmataba under Thoubal district today around 1 pm.
The programme was attended by T (O) Brajamani, president, Kiyam Wangmataba Meira Paibi Lup; Th Ragini, vice president, Kiyam Wangmataba Meira Paibi Lup; M Sanatombi, secretary general, Thoubal Ima and H Priyokumar, president, CADA as presidium members.
Meanwhile, Dipanjit N, vice-president, CADA and Geetchandra Mangang, secretary general, CADA were present as resource persons.
Addressing the gathering, Hijam Priyokumar referred to the Government's initiative to legalise production and sale of country-made liquor in the state and said that it was an unfortunate move when society as a whole is in a precarious situation in terms of alcohol abuse.
He also urged the people to do away with the culture of drinking alcohol in every event, from rituals related to birth and everything in between to the rituals associated with death.
M (O) Sanatombi called for meira paibis to be empowered and strengthened to combat the menace of drug and alcohol.
