CPI local conference held at Nachou

Bishnupur, April 29 2022:
The 45th conference of CPI Bishnupur Local Council was held on Friday Nachou Kha community hall.
The conference, which commenced with paying of floral tributes to departed CPI leaders, was attended by CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar Singh, state secretariat member A Lala Singh, party's veteran leader P Birchandra Singh, Bishnupur local council secretary Yaiskullakpa RK, All India Youth Federation president M Somorjit Singh, All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi Devi, CPI state secretary M Joykumar Singh, Bishnupur district secretary K Bimol Singh and All Mani pur Loumee Lup president S Nilakomol Singh as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Sotinkumar Singh pointed out that that prices of petroleum products which remained unchanged till November 3, 2021 in the country, witnessed sharp spikes since March as the BJP-led government at the centre increased the rate 12 times.
Alleging that prices of petrol, diesel and LPG were hiked by the Union government with the sole intention to aid its corporate friends earn hefty profit, Sotinkumar expressed serious concern that the centre's policy to appease the corporate world has been taking a toll on the commoners, especially the daily wagers and students.
Terming the centre's anti-people policy as daylight robbery of public, he announced that the CPI would hold protest demonstrations across the state on May 8 and 9 to denounce arbitrary increase in rates of petroleum products as well as items of daily use.
During the conference, new 23 councillors and seven executive members of Bishnupur Local Council were elected including RK Yaiskullakpa local secretary, O Chinglelba as assistant secretary and Th Yaiskul as treasurer.
As part the event, floral tributes were also paid to martyrs from Nachou who lost their lives in police action during an agitation to save Sanjabung s identity in 1956 .
