Imphal, April 29 2022:
Miffed by the sub-standard quality of constructing the school building under School Fagat-hansi Mission in Wangoi assembly constituency, MLA Khuraijam Loken said that he will bring up the matter with the authority concerned and take up appropriate actions against the engineers and contractors concerned.
The MLA inspected the newly constructed classrooms of Paobitek High School on Thursday.
He expressed strong resentment over pathetic condition of the classrooms.
Apart from the contractor using very thin material for the ceiling, bamboo was found to have used instead of wood timber for the ceiling framework.
Some portions of the ceiling fell off when the MLA touched them slightly.
He denounced the sub-standard work while stating that the School Fagathansi Mission is a flagship scheme of the government to improve government schools at par with private schools and indulging in such corrupt activities is unfortunate.
The condition of the ceiling poses a threat to the safety of students as well as teachers, he added.
The NPP MLA recounted that he studied at the Yumnam Huidrom High School and if used to produce position holders in matric examination.
It is disheartening to see the school drawing less number of students these days, he said while stressing the need for finding out the reason behind this problem.
Loken also expressed concern over illegal drilling of Water pipeline in different parts of the constituency without proper approval and sanction of the authority.
It was also rather surprising to see some individuals inaugurating government projects though they are no longer part of the government, the MLA said.
