Araang League from Dec 5

The 1'st Araang League 2014 will be held from December 5 to 15 at Tangkhul Nagalong Ground and Pakshi Mini Stadium, Ukhrul.
Altogether, 16 teams will be competing in the league which would be a mega event in the North East.
The Araang League is being planned to nurture the skills and identify the talents of the youth in the North East region which is often known as 'Powerhouse of Indian Sports', to inculcate the spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship, to facilitate conducive environment for acquiring and developing football skills and help the youth to to take up football as a career, to prepare potential sportsmen to contribute in Nation-building, to foster better relationship among various community and to create an atmosphere of peace, stability and unity in the region.
"Araang" refers to the name of a bird called "Hornbill" which signifies pride and honour and is widely considered as a trusted guide throughout their migratory route.
A cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 would be awarded to the team champion while the runners up teams would be awarded a cash prize of Rs 60,000 and Rs 30,000 .
The fair play team would be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000.The best goalkeeper and top scorer of the league would be awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,500 each along with a trophy.
