Imphal, November 04 2014:
In view of the AROICON 2014 which would be attended by 600 doctors from India and 24 others from abroad, Chief Minister O Ibobi today made a spot assessment of the City Convention Centre.
AROICON 2014 scheduled on November 6 is a conference of doctors on radiation Oncology related with cancer treatment.
The City Convention Centre remained unfinished even after former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated it on December 3, 2011 before the construction was finished only recently.
The mega conference would be held on a trial basis at least for the newly completed City Convention Centre.
Speaking to media persons in the course of the inspection tour, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that it took sometime before the City Convention Centre could be put into use even after it was inaugurated because the Government was determined to make the centre impeccable being one of the few landmark buildings of the State.

The Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of Moirangkhom bridge.
Although the Chief Minister found the construction work of City Convention Centre going on speedily, Ibobi was visibly irked on observing the work pace at the bridge and approach road construction works.
Nonetheless, Ibobi claimed that all efforts would be put in to complete the construction and development work of the approach road before the Sangai Festival.
However, Ibobi maintained that it was difficult to give definite timeline for construction and development works of other roads of Imphal city.
Stating that components of the new Sanjenthong bridge would be brought from outside the State, Ibobi maintained that he could not give any guarantee about completing the bridge construction work in the near future.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and high ranking officials of Works Department during the inspection tour.
