Imphal, November 04 2014:
Students from poor economic background are badly affected by rapid commercialisation and privatisation of education, according to Anil Sat Gopal, president, Steering Committee of All India Siksha Sangharsh Jatra 2014 .
Anil Sat was speaking as the resource person of the one day discussion on commercialisation, privatisation and commercialisation of education organised by All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) at its head office located at DMC campus today.
Anil observed that tremendous change has come in the education sector across the country.
Many students from poor economic background have been deprived of learning unable to meet the huge amount of money for their education.
At the same time, the performance of Govt run schools and colleges is abysmally poor.
Although competition level among the private institutes in terms of possessing infrastructure and manpower is high, the trend is not a positive sign, Anil Sat Gopal opined.
AMSU president Th Naresh said that the trend is also the same here and as such there is the urgency to join hands to rise against co-mmercialisation and privatisation of education in order to ameliorate the system.
Activist of All India Forum for Right to Education Th Surjit also attended the programme.
