Soldier attains martyrdom

Imphal, November 04 2014:
Lance Naik Jagga Singh of Engineer Regiment deployed in combating insurgency under the Red Shield Division in Manipur laid down his life on November 3 last at Koirengi in Imphal, while on counter insurgency duty, saod a release of PRO (defence) Imphal.
Lance Naik Jagga Singh was part of the Engineer team tasked for carrying out counter terrorist operations in Manipur and was deployed in Koirengi.
He sustained serious injuries caused due to the cowardly act of unidentified terrorists who lobbed a grenade in the living area of Koirengi Army post.
Lance Naik Jagga Singh was immediately evacuated to Military Hospital at Leimakhong, however he succumbed to his injuries.
He made the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
The body of Lance Naik Jagga Singh will be flown to his native place in Bhatinda, Punjab for last rites.
A wreath laying ceremony is being organised to pay homage to the martyr at Imphal Airport.
Civil and military dignitaries will offer tributes to this brave soldier for his supreme sacrifice.
Such acts of courage and valour by soldiers like Lance Naik Jagga Singh further strengthen the resolve of the Indian Army and the Nation to weed out the insurgency and unwarranted elements from the society and bring in peace and harmony to Manipur, said the release.
