Decks cleared for Bhagyachandra dance festival

Decks have been cleared for staging the 10th edition of Bhagyachandra National Festival of Classical Dance slated for commencement here from Nov 6 till Nov 9 under the aegis of Art and Culture Dept, Govt of Manipur.
The inaugural function of the festival will be held at Shree Shree Gipinathji Temple, Ningthoukhong while the main festival will be staged at Shree Shree Govindaji Temple Complex, Kangla Fort.
Briefing media persons today at the MFDC Preview Theatre, Palace Compound, Joint Director of Art and Culture, Dr K Sushila said six Manipuri classical dances and six others from outside including Odissi, Mohiniattam, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak and Sattrriya would be featured during the festival.
Dr Sushila said the festival would be inaugurated by Chief Minister O Ibobi on Nov 6 at 4pm at Shree Shree Gipinathji Temple, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur district while Commerce and Industries Minister K Govindas will preside.
Gurus and artistes of JNMDA Imphal and Govt Dance College, Imphal would perform during the inaugural function.
The main festival would be held at Kangla from Nov 7-9 at 5 pm daily, Dr Sushila said.
Prior to this, a similar event was also successfully organised from Nov 3-4 at Murshidabad and Nabadwip, West Bengal, she added.
The festival is being organised under the supervision of State Level Organising Committee headed by the CM with Ratan Thiyam as the coordinator, Dr Sushila said.
