35th Men's State Polo : Khurai Polo Club, KRYPHSA, Samurou Polo Club advance into last 16 round

Imphal, January 11 2019: Khurai Polo Club, KRYPHSA and Samurou Polo Club defeated their respective rivals today to seal the last 16 round berth of the 3 5th Men's State Level Polo Tournament 2018-19 being organised by All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

The first encounter of the day saw Khurai Polo Club knock CHPC-B out by 9-3 goals to move into the pre-quarter final stage.

Both teams started the game on a bright note and the first chukker ended with the two teams scoring 2 goals each.

Thounaojam Premkumar and Konsam Romio scored one goal apiece for the winning side while H Pritam Singh and Y Nepolian Singh scored for CHPC-B.H Pritam scored the last goal for the losing side in the second chukker to give a 3-2 lead at the break as the Khurai side failed to find the target in this chukker.

The Khurai side however bounce back in the remaining chukker and it were Chingangbam Premjit and S Jamson who scored one goal each in the third chukker and overturned the lead towards their favour.

Konsam Romio then opened up the last chukker scoring hitting a goal while Premjit made it 6-3 before S Jamson scored his second and extended the lead to 7-3.Premkumar and Jamson carried on the scoring spree adding one goal each and successfully wrapped up the game 9-3.In the second match of the day, KRYPHSA had a 3-1 win over Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club and sealed the pre-quarter final berth.

Both teams had a dull start as neither team found the breakthrough in the first chukker.

Naorem Alex Singh got the opening in the second chukker and gave KRYPHSA a narrow 1-0 lead till the break.

K Pandit (5:03) managed to pull back a goal in the last chukker and drew level but Salam Deepak came to KRYPHSA's rescue breaking the deadlock within 41 seconds before Rajkumar Mangalsana fired in the decisive goal.

The last match of the day saw Samurou Polo Club (SPC) ride on goals by Ak Ibomcha and O Paikhomba to seal a 6-3 win over K&MM RS-C.Both SPC and K&MM RS-C palyed out 1-1 draw in the first chukker as O Paikhomba drew level after Th Momocha Singh found the opener for K&MM RS.The second chukker however entirely went to the Samurou side as Ranjan Singh, AK Ibomcha and A Abung banged in one goal each to hand a 4-1 lead at the break.

O Paikhomba hit another in the third chukker after Th Momocha chipped in his second and made it 5-2 .

Th Momocha went for another in the last chukker but while Ak Ibomcha got his second and finished off the game 6-3 .
