AR archers shine

The Assam Rifles archery team secured overall third position in men's category in the 2nd All India Police Archery Championship held at S&S ITBP BN, Soboli Sonipat, Haryana from February 18 to 20 .
The tournament was participated by 17 teams with the AR archers who competed in Indian Round, Compound Division round and Recurve Division round winning one gold, four silvers and five bronze medals.
The performance of the Manipuri boys deserves special mention especially L/Hav Subhachandra Meitei, Rfn H Bijendranath Singh, Rfn H Heroba Singh, Rfn M Sunder Singh and Rfn Heroba Singh.
These soldier archers always performed splendidly and brought laurels to their team and the state, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
It is said that in the championship, L/Hav Subhachandra Meitei won the gold medal in Olympic round and two silver medals in 50 m and 70 m rounds, while Rfn H Bijendranath Singh won one silver and two bronze medals in 30 m and 50m Indian Round.
In the same event, Rfn Heroba Singh won one bronze medal in 30 m Indian Round.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) complemented the splendid performance of the team and exhorted them to win greater laurels in the next championship, added the release.
