Murder of two traders across the border : CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh

Chief Minister O Ibobi today announced ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each for the two Indian traders found murdered after they the Indo-Myanmar border and ventured upto Tamu.
The Chief Minister showed his solidarity to the bereaved families by personally visiting them at JNIMS mortuary this afternoon.
Later speaking to media persons, ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each for the two families would be given, said the CM.
Terming the twin murder as most unfortunate, Ibobi asserted that both India and Myanmar ought to condemn such dastardly and inhuman criminal activities in the strongest term.
On learning about the missing of the two men, the State Government pressed into service all its machinery.
However as the two went missing after crossing into Myanmar, the State security forces and the paramilitary forces could not track them.

As of now, it is not clear in which country the two traders were murdered.
A thorough investigation would be launched and befitting actions would be initiated after identifying the culprits, Ibobi stated.
On the other hand, denizens of Moreh cutting across community lines have been lodging a strong protest against the twin murder.
Sensing the tense situation, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and MLA Korungthang have been putting up at the border town.
There are reports that a Myanmarese delegation led by two Ministers have been blockaded by Moreh denizens at Moreh on their way to Guwahati.
Notably, Sanvendar Singh (30) from Uttar Pradesh and Daljeet Singh (33) from Maharashtra were found murdered at Jangnomphai village, Chandel district under Molcham police station, close to Indo-Myanmar border.
Including the two deceased, six traders went to Tamu through Moreh on January 24.While the four returned to Imphal on the day, the others went missing.
Till 10.55 am of January 24, there mobile phones were operational.
It was reported that they visited Myanmar through Moreh earlier too.
They arrived at Imphal on January 19 and put up at Gurudwara, Thangal Bazar.
Bodies of the two murdered traders were handed over to their respective families after post mortem at JNIMS today.
Their last rites would be performed at Minuthong here.
Burn wounds were seen on many parts of their bodies, informed a source.
