Imphal, November 15 2013 :
The Consumers' Club, Manipur has expressed concern over the rumour of salt scarcity going viral in the capital where the price was hiked upto Rs 200-250 per kg and observed that the rumour might be a propaganda carried out by businessmen who are interested to clear their stock of salt nearing expiry date.
While appealing to the State Government and concerned department to nab those behind spreading the rumour and punish them, the club has also lauded the Manipur Police for their prompt response in organizing awareness campaign on the matter.
