Narrow escape

A middle-aged woman and her grand-daughter had a miraculous escape when a power cable snapped and fell on top of them at Kongba Ucheckon area today morning.
Both, however, escaped with minor injuries as there was no electricity at the time of the incident.
At around 8 am, Takhellambam Ibecha (57) w/o T Sanahal of Kongba Ucheckon Moriba Thong-khong and her grand-daughter namely Imomsana (2) were heading to purchase grocery items at the local shop when the over-head power line snapped and hit the grand-mother on the head before it grazed her grand-child's face.
It is said that about five minutes later the power was supplied on the line but went off again seconds later.
Urging Electricity Department authorities for periodical checking of power lines and initiative repairing works to tighten the drooping wires, some locals conveyed that timely measures are needed to avert unwanted incidents.
