Ragailong killing protest planned

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Killing of Wahengbam Ton at Ragailong today announced for a mass protest here tomorrow.
Talking to mediaersons at Ibudhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Community Hall, Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai here today, L Pratap, co-convenor of the JAC informed that a mass demonstration will be observed at different places from Thangmeiband Cheiraoching to Nagamapal to register protest against the killing tomorrow.
"We've handed a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister raising various demands in connection with the killing and we hope the Government will meet the soon," he said.
However, he said the JAC feels unhappy that the Ragailong village elders have not tried to conciliate over the incident till now.
He further appealed to the tribal village authority or elders to punish all the culprits according to its customary law.
23-year old Ton of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai, who had gone to Ragailong to meet his girlfriend, was reportedly lynched by a mob in a violent standoff at the village in the night of November 13 .
