Even though the Medical Council of India (MCI) has set the target to make Jawaharlal Insitute of Medical Sciences a full fledged medical college by January next year, it has not developed its playground yet.
Sources from JNIMS divulged that the MCI has set January 2015 as the target for conducting necessary final inspection.
However, it has not developed its playground as the spaces reserved for its playground are now occupied by the mechanical division of the State Works Department.
The same source further said that repeated remainders have been served to the concern department to vacate the space as soon as possible so that necessary infrastructure development could be done there.
But no result is seen yet.
The official also mentioned that the construction of girls' hostel, auditorium and administrative block is on progress so as to complete the structures before the MCI final inspection.
The official again expressed that the MCI has given necessary permission for its 5th batch admission for which the medical college is waiting the eligible list from the Govt of Manipur and further continued that permission for opening of PG courses for seven Clinical Departments such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pethology, Pharmacology, Phisiology and Community Medicine has been forwared to MCI.
