Imphal, July 02 2014:
The paternal family of Seram (N) Elangbam (O) Sushila has alleged that Sushila did not kill herself but was murdered.
Sushila was found hung to death at her husband's Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai residence and her 11 months old daughter was also found dead beside her yesterday.
A team of Women Action for Development (WAD) visited Sushila's paternal family at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai today.
The family members alleged that it was not a suicide case.
They went on to assert that Sushila was subjected to continual harassment by her husband's first wife and her husband Elangbam Biren was always in favour of the first wife.
Sushila's mother Mani said that Sushila came and stayed with them for a long time when she was pregnant with her first child.
But she never talked about coming back to her paternal during the last couple of months.
Just two hours before Sushila was found dead, two men were seen walking out of Biren's house and his first wife was seen watching television by people of the neighbourhood.
Sushila's feet were found touching the ground even though the wooden bar from which she allegedly hung herself was very high.
All these evidence suggested that it was not a suicide case, they alleged while urging the concerned authority to conduct a thorough investigation and book the culprit(s) .
