Jirighat, August 17 2015:
A North East People's Organisation (NEPO) based in Assam's Silchar has opposed implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in North East States.
It was decided during a recent public meeting organised by NEPO at Mela Ground near Jirighat Police Station, reported Jiri News Network on Monday.
The meet was also attended by Hindu and Muslim Bengalis from Cachar and Imphal East Jiribam subdivision.
The meet expressed disappointment over Hindi speaking Bengali and Muslim people being treated as outsiders in ILP implemented States of Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
In Manipur too, Hindi speaking people are being harassed, the meet insisted and warned that NEPO will not remain silent if the authority concerned fails to look into the matter.
