Wanglen Khundongbam's Pallepfam to open 3-day festival of cinema from Northeast

Directorate of Film Festivals under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India for the second time is organizing "Fragrances from the North East", a three-day festival of cinema from the North East India at Siri Fort Auditorium complex here from August 21 to 23, 2015 .
Giving an absolute North-Eastern experience to the cinegoers, the film screenings will be supplemented by cultural programmes, exhibitions of handicrafts and books, food stalls and much more during the festival.
Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Col.Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd.), AVSM will inaugurate the festival on August 21 at 5.30 pm in the presence of Bimal Julka, Secretary of Information & Broadcasting.
Some of the leading film personalities from the region are expected to join the celebration.
Manipuri feature film Pallepfam(2014) directed & produced by Wanglen Khundongbam will be the inaugural film.
Pallepfam is Wanglen Khundongbam's debut film.
The screening will be preceded by three cultural shows respectively from the Hojagiri Dance troupe from Tripura, Dhol Pung Cholam Dance troupe from Manipur and The Girish and Chronicles, a Hard Rock Band from Sikkim.
The festival will have the special flavour with a retrospective of movie maestro Aribam Syam Sharma from Manipur.
Six films including two feature films- India's first Grand Prix of Nantes winning film Imagi Ningthem (1981) and Ishanou(1990) -the official selection of Cannes in 1991 and four non feature films namely Orchids of Manipur, The Deer on The Lake, Indigenous Games of Manipurand Yelhou Jagoi will be screened in the retrospective.
Apart from the retrospective the film Ko:Yad by eminent film maker from Assam Manju Borah will be showcased.
While Tribeny Rai's films Yathawat and Last Rites from Sikkim will be presented, Kokborok film-Maithya directed by Joseph Pulinthanath and Sherdukpen film-Crossing Bridges by Sanga Dorjee Thongdok will give a glimpse of Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
A bouquet of shorts from Meghalaya- Karyukai and Rong Kuchak directed by Domnic Sangma and from Nagaland - The Honey Hunter and the Maker directed by Tiainla Jamir and Story of a House directed by Sesino Yhoshu & Sophy Lasuh will be presented.
The festival will be closed with the Hindi film- Aisa Yeh Jahaan (2015) written and directed by Biswajeet Bora from Assam and produced by Maya Kholie from Arunachal Pradesh on August 23 .
