While lauding the Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur for considering the plight of the scanty-rainfall hit farmers whose paddy fields are left empty without taking up of transplantation work, Chief of Purum Tampak village in Chandel district Kh.
Alexander Chothe informed media persons that the department has provided 'blackgram' as an alternative crop arrangement to the suffering farmers.
Briefing the media, the village chief thanked the Director of Agriculture Palendra Singh and district officials for providing blackgrams free of cost to the villagers on August 22 only after three days of the press statement issued in this regard.
On behalf of the affected farmers of the surrounding villages, Alexander Chothe also thanked the state BJP Kisan Morcha Vice President Tongsin Beton, President of the district BJP Kisan Morcha HB Joseph, and Ts Konald Vice president of BJP Chandel district and others for their concern and assistance in this regard.
