State Karatekas returned home with haul of medals

Imphal, August 24 2014:
Karatekas of Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association (MAKA) returned home yesterday after a successful participation in the 10th Independence Cup National Karate-Do Championship which was organized by Shito Ryu Karate-Do Keiko Kai, India at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from August 16 to 17 .
In a press release, Joint Secretary of the MAKA Bankim informed that the state Karatekas fetched four gold medals, four silver and nine bronze medals from the Championship.
All the four gold medals were from Kumite event.
The medal winners are L Yaiphabi Chanu (Below 9 years), Kh Roshini (10 years), O.Umaknata (12 yrs) and Wanglen Singh (13 yrs.) .
Three Kumite players Juohn King (10 yrs), Malemnganba (12 yrs), Tamphasana (23 yrs) and Kata player G Bindyarani also won silver medals in the championship.
Bronze medals winner are W Sanathoi (Cadet -47 Kumite), Jeny Rose (Cadet +47 Kumite), O Jotin Singh (10 yrs Kata), Md Nazir Hussain (Cadet -53 Kumite), Kh Miland (Cadet -57 Kumite) Gunachand (Cadet -63 Kumite), Sanajaoba (Junior-68 Kumite), Ch Ramson Singh (Junior -76 Kumite) and Feroz Khan (Senior -50 Kumite) .
The successful state team was led by Sensei N Surjit Meitei, Sensei Deepak Singh as Team Coach and Manager with Sensei K.Ningthem as official referee.
