River banks breached, large areas flooded

Imphal, August 24 2014:
Efforts to reconstruct the breached embankment of Nambul river went on at Pukhrambam Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district today as well.
Vast areas of paddy field and fish farms were inundated with flood water after the river embankment caved in at two different points of the locality at around 9 pm on August 22 .
Sanjenbam and Pukhrambam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Naorem Tomba said that around 700 paris of paddy fields and 200 fish farms and 200 houses are still submerged in water.

Soon after people got the news, they rushed to the area and tried to restore the breached portion, he said and added that local MLA N Loken provided flood fighting materials and 30 labourers to help the locals.
